When I say that their planning was complicated, I mean it! Shasta and Stephan are dear friends of mine from Oregon. They eagerly hired me to be their wedding photographer and I was over the moon! Originally planned for 2020, it was pushed to 2021 and then to 2022… They chose to elope in ROME! They chose a month during which I was going to be in Rome anyway (June 2022) so it all worked out beautifully. They enlisted the help of myself and their friends Andrew and Giselle (also in Rome) to help iron out some of the planning (I purchased their flowers, they planned the pre-wedding evening, I reserved their wedding dinner and rooftop terrace cocktails, etc…). In the end, Rome was HOT and filled with MILLIONS of tourists, but we managed to escape the crowds for their ceremony, and certainly were not in crowds on the post-wedding lifestyle session we did in the little hilltop village of Giove in Umbria. That day, they came to visit me in my farmhouse ( www.CasaleDelleQuerce.com ) and we then explored the village for sunset for a quiet portrait session in the cooler evening hours (which we were not able to do while in Rome). It was all magical and here are some of the images I love the most.
Eloping or marrying in Italy? Let me know! I would love to be your Italian wedding photographer (I am Italian and am fluent in the language, which definitely helps with planning) ;)
